Sobre Paul
I am Irish and married to a native of Florianopolis, where we live with our daughter.
In Ireland I was a professional in the Hotel, Tourism and Catering Industry.
I managed a Michelin-starred restaurant in Dublin.
I once ran a restaurant on a boat on the Grand Canal.
I was a Busker (playing guitar and singing) on the streets of Dublin during my college days, and I still play music regularly.
I have a CELTA Certification through Cambridge (Cultura Inglese).
I have been teaching English to private students in Brazil since 2009, and I also teach English in Bilingual Schools since 2019.
My lessons are based on the Cambridge CELTA method and I design my teaching modules specifically for the needs and interests of each of my students.
I use a lot of references to Music, Cinema, History, Etymology, Geography, Politics and Popular Culture in our learning material.

After a long initial interview with my student, I will design a course with specific stages and time-frames to achieve their desired goals.
Some of my students wanted a 10-week Travel and Culture course which included information about their destination and local accents and expressions.
Others wanted an intense 2-hour interview preparation with appropriate terms and technical phrases.
I have also conducted group classes for Fundamental Students (age 10-14) in English Language Arts, reading and writing.
I like to include grammatical exercises, conversational expressions, video observation and audio comprehension in my classes, with recommendations for extra reading and viewing in spare time.
