  I speak this language because I am a native Chinese speaker, but also because it became my passion and profession. I completed a Master’s degree in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language and have been teaching Chinese internationally for several years, especially here in Portugal. Teaching Chinese is not just my job—it is something I genuinely enjoy every day.

  A person who, in my opinion, represents Chinese culture very well is Confucius. His ideas about education, respect, and lifelong learning still influence how people think and interact in China today. I often find that when students understand these cultural values, many aspects of communication in Chinese society become much clearer.

• Existe alguma palavra, expressão ou tradição típica que goste particularmente?

  One expression I really like is “慢慢来” (màn màn lái), which means “take your time.” I often tell this to my students, because learning Chinese can feel challenging at first, but with patience and steady practice, progress comes naturally. It’s also a philosophy I try to apply in life.

• Por qual motivo, aprender esta língua é importante (seja no âmbito escolar, profissional ou pessoal)?

  Learning Chinese is valuable in many ways. Professionally, it helps people work more confidently with Chinese companies and colleagues. Academically, it opens the door to a long and fascinating cultural and intellectual tradition. Personally, it allows learners to see the world from a different perspective, which I think is one of the most rewarding parts of learning any language.

• Qual a maior dificuldade desta língua e o como facilitar este processo de aprendizagem?

  The biggest difficulty is usually that Chinese is very different from European languages, especially in pronunciation and characters. But this can also be interesting and fun when approached in the right way. I help students by breaking learning into clear, manageable steps and by designing lessons based on each student’s goals, preferences, and pace. When lessons feel relevant and structured, students gain confidence quickly.

• Qual a maior dificuldade desta língua e o como facilitar este processo de aprendizagem?

  One thing I always enjoy is seeing the moment when students realize that Chinese is not as “impossible” as they once thought. I remember a beginner who was very nervous about characters at the beginning, but a few weeks later he sent me a photo of a Chinese sign he could read while traveling, and he was so proud. Moments like that are very special for me as a teacher.

• Queremos saber mais sobre si, conte-nos um pouco sobre as suas viagens e aventuras.

  Living and teaching in Portugal has been a wonderful experience. I have had the chance to meet people from many different cultures and backgrounds, and this has helped me understand how differently people learn and communicate. These experiences also inspired me to include more cultural and intercultural communication topics in my lessons, which many students find especially interesting.

  What makes me a Superprof is not only my solid professional background, but also my experience as a front-line teacher working closely with students every day. I understand where learners usually struggle, how they overcome difficulties, and how important it is to make learning feel clear and achievable. Over time, I have developed my own way of simplifying complex points and making Chinese more approachable and enjoyable. Seeing students gain confidence and realize that Chinese is not as difficult as they once thought is the most rewarding part of my work.
