Sobre Maria
Hi, I'm Maria — an ESL teacher with a certified teaching qualification and 5 years of experience teaching English online to adult learners from different cultures and backgrounds.
I know what it feels like to learn a language from scratch. My own English journey was built through self-teaching, immersion and years of practice — which means I genuinely understand the frustration, the self-doubt and the small victories that come with language learning. That lived experience makes me a more empathetic and effective teacher.
Over the years I've worked with hundreds of students — young professionals, working adults, complete beginners — and the one thing I've learned is that every student learns differently. Some need more encouragement. Some need more patience. Some just need someone who won't make them feel silly for trying. I adapt to my students, not the other way around.
Outside of teaching, I'm a mother of two — which has only strengthened my patience, my empathy and my ability to connect with people of all ages and personalities. I'm also genuinely passionate about AI and technology, which often makes for surprisingly great English conversation topics with my students!
I believe English should be accessible to everyone — not just those who can afford expensive academies. That's the reason I teach the way I do, at the price I do, for the people I do.

My approach is simple: the best way to learn English is to actually speak it — from day one, in every session.
I teach through conversation. Instead of textbooks and grammar drills, we talk about real topics — culture, work, travel, current trends, everyday life. This keeps sessions engaging and means you're practising English the way you'll actually use it in the real world.
My classes take place online via Zoom in small groups of up to 6 people. Sessions are relaxed, friendly and completely pressure-free. I never put students on the spot or make anyone feel embarrassed for making mistakes — in fact, mistakes are exactly how we learn, and I'll always guide you gently back on track.
My teaching style is built around three things:
Patience — I meet every student exactly where they are
Encouragement — building your confidence is just as important as building your vocabulary
Immersion — classes are conducted entirely in English, which is one of the most effective methods for rapid progress

These classes are designed for Portuguese-speaking adults of any level — from complete beginners who have never spoken a word of English, to intermediate learners who want to finally break through and speak fluently.
