Sobre Maayan
I am a 29-year-old professional musician and composer with over 20 years of dedication to my craft. My journey began at age 8 with the piano, followed by the saxophone at 10, and eventually expanding into guitar, bass, and the flute. This multi-instrumental background has deeply shaped my perspective, allowing me to view music not just through one lens, but as a vast, interconnected language.
Professional Artistry & Session Work
As a recording artist, I have released two significant projects: my solo album "Contrast" (signed to a UK label) and the electro-acoustic jazz project "Floating Sheep." Beyond my own projects, I have an extensive career as a session musician, having recorded saxophone and flute parts for countless artists across various genres. My experience also extends to the stage, where I have performed extensively as a sideman and guest artist for numerous live productions. This "real-world" experience means I can teach you the practical skills needed for both the recording studio and the stage.
Education & Philosophy
I am a graduate of the Jazz Institute at the Rimon School of Music, where I spent years refining my technique and discovering the most important lesson of all: how to practice with joy. During my time there, I developed a personalized practice system based on the idea that everyone is different. I don't believe in "one size fits all" teaching; I believe in helping you find the system that works for your unique mind and lifestyle.
Why I Teach
For me, music is the most beautiful of all arts and a true way of life. It has taught me invaluable lessons about myself and the world around me. I believe that sharing this gift is a duty, and my goal is to guide you through your own musical process—helping you turn practice into a life quest and an endless source of fulfillment.

My teaching approach is rooted in a simple belief: the most important thing I can teach you is how to enjoy playing and practicing. To me, the ultimate goal as a teacher is to give you the "gift of music"—equipping you with the tools to make music a joyful life quest. While we will work hard, my classes are a safe, non-intimidating space where your creativity comes first.
How my classes typically take place:
We balance "the craft" with "the heart." Every lesson is tailored to your pace and interests:
Technique & Sound: We build a solid foundation (breath control, posture, and tone) so the instrument feels like an extension of your body.
Creative Language: Using my background from the Rimon Jazz Institute, we explore music theory and improvisation as a way to "speak" through your instrument.
Your Repertoire: We apply everything to the music you love, ensuring that every practice session feels like a reward, not a chore.
Who these classes are for:
I work with all levels—from absolute beginners taking their first breath into a saxophone or flute, to advanced players looking to master modern jazz improvisation.
Languages & Location:
I offer a fully multi-lingual experience in English and Hebrew, available both online and in-person in Lisbon. Whether we are meeting across the world or across the room, my mission is to help you take your playing to the next level while falling in love with the process.

Maayan is really the perfect teacher. Hes kind, funny and full of inspiration. In our classes hes so patient and has lots of knowledge and passion for what he does and really passes this on to his students. I have been learning with him throughout the last years and his way of transmitting technique, tradition and different approaches is giving me so much joy and musical freedom.
