I'm Maria, a native English speaker with a TESOL Certificate (International Open Academy, 2018) and years of professional experience in customer support and client-facing roles across Portugal and South Africa, including remote roles supporting clients in the US. I grew up speaking both English and Portuguese, and I've spent my career communicating clearly, patiently, and professionally with people from all backgrounds. I like to give clear explanations rather than just conversation practice, and I teach everyday English and Portuguese to kids or adults alike. I'm based in Braga, Portugal, with family roots in Madeira, and I offer online lessons for students of any age or level. My goal is simply to help you feel confident and comfortable speaking English, at your own pace, in a relaxed and encouraging environment.

I give clear explanations, not just conversation practice — grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation explained simply so there's no confusion about what I offer. I teach everyday English and Portuguese, and I prepare students of all kinds: kids or adults, beginners or advanced. I'm a native English speaker, TESOL-certified, and I also speak Portuguese, so I understand exactly where Portuguese speakers tend to get stuck. Each lesson is tailored to your level and goals, whether that's everyday conversation, grammar and vocabulary, workplace English, or exam preparation. My background in customer support means I'm used to explaining things clearly and adapting to how each person learns best.
