I am originally from upstate New York. Joined the US Army and travelled to a few countries. Living 17 years in Portugal and now in Brazil. I learned Portuguese the same way I will teach. I mingled with the people, listened, and improved over time.

I have traveled to some different countries and tried to learn the language. I have found that have a class on the language is not the best way if you just want to be able to get around. Basic and simple understanding of a language and understanding the culture play a big role in learning a language. Keeping things simple and not trying to say too much is the best way.
