Sobre Carla
I am a native Portuguese teacher who studied in Portugal and lived in Liverpool, England, for 12 years, where I also completed my Master’s Degree in Applied Linguistics at the University of Liverpool. During my time in the UK, I taught Portuguese and English to foreign learners in private schools and within immigrant communities, gaining valuable experience working with people from different cultures and backgrounds. Today, I am back in Portugal, where I run my own English institute, preparing students for Cambridge English exams, and I also teach Portuguese and English at Escola Profissional do Alto Minho Interior. Teaching is my passion, and I genuinely love meeting people from all over the world. I believe that languages are not just about grammar and vocabulary — they are about communication, confidence, culture and connecting with people.

I’m a qualified teacher with a degree in English and Portuguese as Second Languages and a Master’s Degree in Applied Linguistics. My classes are completely tailor-made to suit each student’s level, needs and objectives, whether you want to improve your speaking skills, prepare for an exam, use English or Portuguese for work or simply feel more confident communicating. I believe learning a language should be effective but also enjoyable, so my lessons combine a practical approach with a good dose of humour and an assertive attitude. My goal is simple: to help you achieve your goals while making English a little less scary and a lot more fun!
