Sobre Marlene
Having a passion for people, it was only logical to chose two jobs where I could make a difference in people's lives. So my heart decided that I could only be a teacher and psychologistThroughout my life I lived, studied and worked in different countries such as : US, UK, Portugal and Switzerland.
At the moment I'm based in Portugal and as the result of such a life path I became someone that loves learning more about new cultures, different ways of navigating through life, a polyglot and above all a citizen of the world.
I have a Master in Psychology of Education, DeveIopment and Assessment . Part of my studies as a Psychologist were made at Université de Genève.
When it comes to my teaching path, I have a TEFL, a TEYL and I've been an English and Portuguese teacher for the past 10 years, both online and at local schools.
Traveling, spending time with my family, friends and animals, writing, photography, reading books, watching movies, listening to all kinds of music, archeology, history, genealogy, healthy cooking, eating and pursuing a healthy lifestyle are some of the things that make my eyes shine bright like a diamond.

I teach students of all ages and levels (A1,A2,B1,B2,C1,C2) and love working with SEN and neurodivergent students and very young learners (from 2 years old up).
When it comes to education I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. I always look at my students as individuals, therefore with different needs and goals.
As a starting point, we'll have a conversation (entretien de départ) in order for me to assess their English or Portuguese level, learning style, educational needs (if any), their English or Portuguese learning goals and personal interests.
From there, I'll design and personalize my students' learning path, incorporating different resources and strategies in my classes, such as Cambridge and Oxford materials, videos, songs, movies, podcasts, interactive games and quizzes, role playing scenarios...the sky is the limit.
After each class I always send a detailed email with all the points that were addressed (grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation...), tips on things to improve and practice and homework (unless the student states he/she doesn't want to have homework).
On top of helping my students improving their English or Portuguese level and reaching their learning goal, I also work on their self-esteem and confidence level.
