Sobre Iara
I was born in Puerto Rico of a Brazilian mother and American father. I was educated in the US and spent most of my life in Miami, Florida. I have a Bachelors degree in International Relations and a Masters degree in Investigative Journalism. In 2017, I moved to Portugal and lived in Cascais, in the greater Lisbon area. Recently, I moved to Coimbra. Now I'm getting to know a new city and region. It's been an exciting new path in my life and I'm looking forward to making new friends and getting to know all the wonderful places this region has to offer :))

I was trained using the 'Inlingua' advanced conversational teaching method. 'Inlingua' is an international language school headquartered in Switzerland. I worked at one of their schools in Coral Gable, Florida. Later, I obtained a TESOL certification to teach English as a second language, which I've done online since 2018. My classes emphasize pronunciation and accent reduction using advanced phonetic tools to help my students in that process. I teach individual classes directed at intermediate to advanced level students, who are already able to carry a conversation and are interested in fine-tuning their conversational English abilities. A special emphasis is placed on pronunciation and accent reduction.
