Sobre Amos
Hi, I'm Amos, a native British English teacher. I help students build confidence in English by creating a supportive and relaxed environment where they can feel comfortable, motivated, and safe to speak. Together, we'll improve your speaking, grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation through a combination of structured lessons and natural conversation.
My passion for teaching English grew from my own experience learning Portuguese after marrying my wife, who is from the Azores. Learning a new language became an important part of my life, and through that journey I discovered how rewarding language learning can be. It also gave me a real understanding of the challenges students face, which inspired me to help others achieve their own language goals.
I began my teaching career in England at a language training centre, where I taught English as a Second Language to students from a wide range of backgrounds. After moving to Portugal just over a year ago, I began teaching English to Portuguese speakers. Today, I work with students from a variety of countries and cultures, including many learners from Portugal.
I hold a Level 5 TEFL Diploma and an Observed Teaching Certificate. I also speak Portuguese at an intermediate level, so I can provide additional support to beginner and intermediate Portuguese-speaking learners when needed.

My lessons always look different for each person, as they are planned according to their individual needs. However, I usually follow the structures below. Bear in mind that I offer two main lesson styles, although most students benefit from a combination of both:
Conversational English Lessons
Best suited for: Upper-intermediate and advanced learners (B2 and above).
These lessons focus on developing fluency, confidence, and natural communication skills. In a typical lesson, we begin by introducing useful vocabulary before moving on to discussions, debates, or activities based on interesting real-world topics. I use authentic English materials such as articles, videos, podcasts, and other resources to help students engage with the language as it is actually used.
Structured English Lessons
Best suited for: Beginner to intermediate learners (A1–B2), exam preparation students, and those planning to study or work in English.
These lessons provide a clear learning structure while keeping speaking at the centre of the learning process. We work on all the key language skills, including speaking, listening, grammar, pronunciation, reading, and writing. Lessons incorporate a variety of interactive resources, including coursebooks, grammar materials, pronunciation exercises, texts, images, audio recordings, and practical communication activities. This balanced approach helps students build a strong foundation and make measurable progress.
A Supportive Environment
Because I am learning a language myself, I understand how much courage and confidence it takes to speak in a language that isn't your own. That's why I aim to create a friendly, supportive, and non-judgemental environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions, and developing their communication skills.
My goal is not only to help you improve your English during lessons, but also to build the confidence you need to use English successfully in everyday life.
