Sobre Carol
Hi, I’m Carol! I’m a language teacher from Rio de Janeiro with a degree in Art History, so language and culture tend to show up together in pretty much everything I teach.
I know what it is like to learn another language yourself, including that slightly annoying stage when you understand much more than you can actually say.
As a teacher, I love bringing culture, art, music, history and everyday life into the classroom. My goal is not just to help you build correct sentences, but to help you understand how Brazilian Portuguese actually sounds, feels and works in real conversations.
And yes, being from Rio means I will probably introduce you to a few things your Portuguese textbook conveniently forgot to mention.

Learning Portuguese is not just about knowing what words mean. It is accepting that “pois não” means yes, “imagina” can mean you’re welcome, “já já” is a completely emotional unit of time, and “então…” can somehow carry an entire conversation.
And that is before you realize Brazilians connect words, cut others in half and genuinely expect you to keep up. That is exactly the Portuguese I like to teach: the Portuguese that happens when Brazilians actually start talking.
In class, we work on conversation, vocabulary, pronunciation and, especially, the rhythm of Brazilian Portuguese. Music, videos, culture, behavior, expressions and real-life situations are part of the process because learning a language also means understanding the people behind it.
Grammar? Yes. It just does not need to turn every class into an emergency meeting about verb conjugation.
Lessons are adapted to your level, interests and goals, whether you want to live in Brazil, travel, work, talk to Brazilians or finally understand why three people talking at the same time still counts as a perfectly normal conversation here.
The goal is simple: speak the language, catch the rhythm and understand Brazilians a little better along the way.
